For those who want to buy a house in the Netherlands Antilles, and who are looking for a lot of green and especially peace and quiet, Saba is the island of choice. Here you can enjoy nature to the full, take long walks and go on beautiful dives. Because this island has a very small scale, you will not find many tourists here.
Saba belongs, together with Saint Martin and Saint Eustatius, to the Leeward Islands. The distance to the Windward Islands, Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao, is about 800 kilometres.
With a surface area of 13 square kilometres, Saba is the smallest island of the Netherlands Antilles. In 2020, the population was 1,933, mainly divided among the four villages: The Bottom, Windwardside, Zions Hill and St. Johns.
No white sandy beaches and palm trees, but rough nature. On Saba, you can take fantastic walks through the rainforest, along ravines or to the top of the sleeping volcano.
Saba's underwater world is also phenomenal; you will find more than 30 spectacular diving spots on this island.
The nightlife is quiet and you will not find partying groups of tourists here. Nightlife on this island consists mainly of good food, followed by a quiet drink in one of the bars.
Many properties on Saba are undergoing renovation, giving you the opportunity to fully customise your dream villa. Build on a beautifully situated plot in the middle of the green, or buy a villa with a phenomenal view on top of the hill.
Can you already see yourself? On a terrace with a view of the Caribbean Sea, in a large living room to receive many guests, in a villa with a large garden or in a quiet flat to enjoy the peace and quiet that this island offers.
If you buy a house on Saba, then you have to deal with two types of tax, transfer tax and property tax. You pay transfer tax when you buy a house. This is a percentage of the purchase price. Vastgoedbelasting is an annually recurring tax, this is determined on the basis of the value of your house.
Nacas can assist you with the purchase of your property on the island of Saba. We can help you contact the local real estate agent or negotiate directly with the owner of the various lots offered on this beautiful island. Please contact us for an informal meeting.
